Who We Are

The East Foundation is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated solely to the promotion of greater knowledge and understanding of the people of Korea, across the fields of arts, culture and history.

What We Do

Through a wide range of cross-disciplinary programs and fellowships, we research, archive and publish topics of vital interest to the people of Korea and their relations with the rest of the world.  We support exhibitions and documentaries curated by researchers and thinkers in their respective fields, and sponsor lectures and roundtables.

Our Misson

Our ongoing research and archiving efforts focus on the Korean diaspora and the urgency of documenting those with living memories of their displacement or emigration.  Our mission is to preserve real life stories of migration that are at risk of being lost, and share these incredible untold stories with a larger, worldwide audience.
